Spring Break

My law professors don’t really care about Spring Break but at least I have one. Tellingly, I’m awake typing at 9 o’clock in the morning on a Monday for an article rather than writing for class: habits.

This works is a bit different in the manner that it’s a fresh take rather than a story. Let me explain:

Today, I’ve been reflecting on a theory of psychology that I originated in undergrad. Reading through Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice by Dr. Dennis Kimbro & Dr. Napoleon Hill carried moments of remembering concepts that I had not spent time with recently. Concepts such as Dr. Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the importance of readers being leaders.

I could tangent a few times on self-actualization or self-discipline or some other theory about what makes people great or greater yet equal to their fellow person.

I could lament the traumas of slavery and how the original betrayal that it is is the same idea that killed Fred Hampton and Patrice Lumumba.

.

It’d be easy to ask philosophical questions like the meaning of Shirley Chisholm and Albert Einstein talking about the same values without ever meeting. Or why Shirley Chisholm is a Sagittarius, which is great.

What I’m going to do instead is offer up the opinion that life is much better than it may seem or feel when your tank runs low. Your plans for your life will turn out better than you expected. You will care less about the opinion of others as your true opinion of yourself grows. You will eat well and so will others because of you.

And I’m certain that you must keep going for that to remain true.

Be certain.
